Historically, the Silk Road was an important channel for agricultural exchanges between China and the West. Nowadays, three years after the “One Belt, One Road” initiative was put forward, the agricultural cooperation of countries along the Silk Road has gradually improved, and agricultural cooperation is becoming an important engine for the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt.
At the 23rd China Yangling Agricultural High-tech Achievements Expo, which just closed in early November 2016, agricultural officials, entrepreneurs and experts from Kazakhstan, Germany, the Netherlands and other countries said that the current agricultural cooperation between countries along the Silk Road has been further deepened.
Under the initiative of Northwest A&F University, 36 universities and 23 scientific research institutions in 12 countries including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Jordan, and Poland jointly established the "Silk Road Agricultural Education Technology Innovation Alliance" during the Agricultural High-tech Conference. The "Silk Road Agricultural Education and Technology Cooperation Forum" will be held regularly to enhance agricultural cooperation.
